3 Things to Consider When Buying a Butterfly Knife

Posted by Paul on 7th Dec 2015

The unique feature of a  butterfly knife is that it has two handles and a counter rotating blade. Used for both survival purposes and for opening boxes and packages, butterfly knives are available in a myriad of colors, designs and style options. Here are three things that you should consider when buying a butterfly knife:

Material

The knife should be made up of a durable, easy to hold and extremely strong material. Butterfly knives have a stainless steel blade that is corrosion resistant. Most of these knives have a stainless steel handle but some also come with a wooden handle. Butterfly knives that have a wooden handle are comparatively more expensive than the former.

Design

Choose a knife that is durable and also pay attention to the overall quality of the design. You can consider buying handmade knives but they offer less strength at the neck of the knife. When buying a butterfly knife also pay attention to the blade swivel. The swivel should be able to move easily.

Size

Butterfly knives come in different size ranges. The beginner knife can be 3-4 inches in length while a large butterfly knife can have a blade of up to 5 inches in length.
