SKM 9" Pearlex Italian Stilleto Automatic
These SKM's are among the best bang for the buck in genuine Italian stilettos out there right now. Quality is decent but not great (don't expect Frank B. or Latama quality here) but is the best you're going to find at this price point. Construction is the classic pinned type, and has full brass liners that even extend out to the ends of the crossguard quillons -- a nice touch. These are tight, fast firing and have extremely little to no blade play. The swivel-bolster lock release can be a bit stiff, but will loosen with use. If you're used to higher end Italians you'll definitely notice that these have thinner blade stock and thinner liners, and the handle scales use lower grade materials; but otherwise they're comparable in general construction quality to the top tier brands. Blade grind was ok to fair; sharpness acceptable out of the box but if you want shaving sharp you'll need to touch it up yourself. Keep in mind stilettos were designed for thrusts rather than cuts, so actual edge sharpness is of secondary importance to their intended use. The above applies to virtually all SKM's. For this specific one in Pearlex, I'll just say the handle scales are nice for faux MOP. Good enough to pass for most people anyway, and noticeably better than cheaper brands in faux MOP. So in summary like I said, SKM's are mid-range and good value: Fairly priced, decently well made, and much better quality than any of the cheap Chinese "Italian style" stilettos out there. If you're ok with the compromise of thinner liners and blade stock, and less premium handle materials vs. the high end brands, then these are an excellent choice and probably the best at this price point.

a great addition!
the swivel bolster is a bit stiff at first, but it loosens up. Other than that, a really awesome knife!

SKM 9" Perlex
Really good knife. Mine definitely needed some attention at first. The bolster release was VERY stiff. However it's working great now after a little lube and a lot use. I just ordered another :)

Very good shopping experience
I often buy Italian stilettos from various websites and I have to give Perry Knifeworks a thumbs up. The lower prices and friendly and welcoming service make me prefer shopping on perry knifeworks compared to other sites in the same category. I have a lot of Italian stilettos. The quality of SKM is not high, but the price and service of perry Knifeworks are worth it. so grateful for everything Perry Knife Factory has done for me. They add even more to my collection. I look forward to having more styles in stock to choose from.
