Lighting OTF Partial Serrated.
Great knife foe the money. I have a MicroTech UTX-85. I like how the action is easy to open and close. Will be buying more. Can’t beat the price. MicroTech is a little too expensive.

quick Tonto before those whites come back to kill us!
Oops, I meant tanto. All kidding aside, the best knife for the money I've ever bought. (Actually, I'm not real keen on the tantoes, but every once in a while I buy one just as a novelty more or less.) I believe my count is up to over 40 Lightnings now. I sharpen them until they looks like a toothpick ! I use the workshop sharpening tool, in my opinion one of the best tools ever for sharpening, well, most anything. I keep one sharpener at my place in Florida, and at my main Residence in NH. I keep two, 1 for my work bench and one in the kitchen, (which my wife and I fight over constantly) but it's never going to leave the kitchen! Great knives, and an equally worthy sharpener.

some soft deploys, but ultra ninja
Heavy. Like cheap unkown Chinese metal heavy. Has that feel. Sharp knife. Hard to deploy and retract. But toughen up there buddy, do some thumb curls. Eventually some soft deploys. Usually right when your trying to impress your bros. Fail. Lock tite those screws first thing or you'll lose 'em. All in all, worth the 30 bucks!

The real Lightning OTF!
Perryknifeworks sells the real Lightning OTF made by Cutting Edge in Taiwan. Its the heavy 8oz version and not the cheap no name 4oz versions being sold everywhere that makes the Lightning look bad. This is a bad ass knife ant the best price I could find. Also, Perry has all the options usually in stock while others are out of stock! Awesome knife sold by a great seller. One stop shop for knives.

Lightning OTF - Cutting Edge
Not super familiar with these knives, i had one yrs ago (taiwan version) and i have one of the newer dagger blade one (taiwan version). Now these tanto bladed ones. I bought 5 different ones here. I like them that much. First of all, they are an upgraded version. Much havier than previous model, also the infamous stamp on the right side of handle is gone. Compared to my dagger blade one, seems like the body material is heavier, the springs inside are stainless vs coated and the firing button is a little different (i actualy tried swapping firing buttons from one to the other and it doesn't work. The blade has a removable guide pin now also. The tanto blade, i heard that lightning has done before in a limited production, but i can't say for sure myself. All these blades have the lightning stamp, which tells me they're factory made. The fininsh of the blade is borderline perfect. Not high polish, but very nice even finish and grinds. The coating on handles, i believe are done by cutring edge (never seen these finishes on other lightnings). Not sure what process they use,but i tried scratching the inside of one with a key and it seems to be an ok finish. They sure look nice. I bought a black, a snake skin, a tree camo and two digi camo. All very nice. The pocket clips while original, are laser etched "cutting edge" and seem to have a higher polish than my dagger blade one. Screws are all torx here vs hex. The "twang" in the firing of blade is still there, but a lot more muffled than before. Heavier handle and blade will do that. Open up the knife, put a llight coat of oil on all moving parts and the "twang" will go away completely. When you close it back up, put blue threadlock on all your screws and you have a preety nice reliable otf. I like these a lot. How these are not more than 35 bucks (same price as older regular version) beats me. But worth every penny imo. I rarely do reviews, but i'm very pleased here. Both product and service.

lightning otf my EDC
Over the years I have purchased the lightning otf several times, different blade style and color. This one seem heavier then the others, also felt sturdier not alot of play on the blade. Only problem was this one broke after the first week, I think it was my fault, so I ordered 2 more.

1st one was defective but.....
1st off Perry Knife Works 10 stars for customer service. 4 stars for knife b/c 1st one I received was defective. Customer service sent me a new one w/ a paid return envelope for the defective one. Knife is nice. Feels heavy in the hand. Would be 5 star if 1st knife wasn't defective. Although I rather my Camo Titan with non seratted tanto. Still a really nice piece.

well spent coin!
The lightning appears to be well constructed and has a nice weight to it, also its extremely sharp. I noticed all of the screws were not very tight. So I removed them all and used blue thread lock and problem solved. NOTE: sometimes the blade fails to deploy when laying on a flat surface for a while. That is definitely not a deal breaker for me. I chose the tonto 2/3 separated blade and really like it. If you are on the fence about it like I was at first all of that will change as soon as you hold one in your hand and deploy retract that blade.

I likey new blade!
See my previous review for the regular lightning. the Tanto blade is a little hard to get used to, but once you do it's Unique in its ability to do different things. I highly recommend a Tanto blade Lightning, and especially perry knives!
